Change

What is change? Why can nothing ever just remain static? Why is there always going to be/have to be something better? Why do people need to mess with things? Why are people afraid of change? Why can’t we let nature change everything? Or is it just natural to crave the change we want to see in the world? Not all of these questions are necessarily solvable for just one person or even answerable for most, but I may as well start somewhere.
Well, what is change? Change is the notion and action of moving from one form to another, not remaining static and forming something modified and/or entirely different. Or, for the more “intouch” reader, change is something that presses us out of our comfort zone, something that pushes humanity and all of it’s earthly surroundings to new limits and to reach new heights. Change is for the better or sometimes, for the worst, depending on how you choose to see it. Change is inevitable; change is awkward at first, but soon you become used to it and learn to live with it or maybe even fall in love with the change you so recently became subject to. Change moves the speed of time. It will either force you to fail or adapt, to stand or to fall. Change is not for the weak (although they must deal with it either way.) If you can change before you have to change it will be far easier for you and the people you come in contact with.
Why do people change? People change for many reasons that even they don’t consciously understand. People feel the need to change because it is human instinct. People will always want what they don’t have. If they think change will improve their life, they will opt for the change and improvement they are seeking. Some, are simply subject to the change of others and those people have little to no control of the situation and are forced to adapt to the change.
Why do people hate change? There are three umbrella reasons for why people hate change. The first being comfort, your situation may not be exactly desirable to everyone or even for you at times but you are accustomed to it, you are comfortable. No one wants to feel uncomfortable and change puts comfort “under the gun.” The second being fear. For most people uncertainty is terrifying. People are taught that not knowing the exact outcome of a situation is bad. What if you decided to expect the best from uncertain situations? How would your life be different if you engaged with change in a way that had you not only following its natural rhythms but actually welcoming it? The third being motivation. It’s not compelling enough. We let go of dreams and aspirations in order to conform to the wants and needs of todays society and succumb to the “shoulds” of those around us instead of what makes us happy.
Why is change good? Unfortunately we are subject to change, and yet no one knows that change is constant. Good things can come from change if you let it. You grow and learn new things every time something changes. Frequent change makes it easier for you to adapt to new situations, environments and people in which many people would struggle with. As a result, you do not freak out when something new happens or something changes. We all have things in our life we want to improve- finances, job, partner, house, etc. Everyone knows nothing will change itself. (You have to be the change you want to see in the world) Without change there is no improvement. From time to time change makes you think your life over again and re-evaluate to try and see things from a different perspective. Depending on the change, it can also help reinforce your moral stance. Not all changes lead you to pleasant periods of life. Unfortunately we do not live in fairy tale and sad things happen, too. Overcoming the tough period will make you stronger.
Change creates progress to help move life forward and to develop you as a human.
Each change is about a turning page. It is about closing one chapter and opening another one. Change brings new beginnings and new excitement to life.
Just like the main character Harold Crick from Stranger Than Fiction. He lead an entirely routine, predictable and uninteresting life. That is exactly how life would be without change. Some people are comfortable with a lack of change, but those people are unable to experience the full potential of life.
So, why must life change? Why does it exist? Is it just to make things interesting? I think not. Change is meant to expand the world for a person. It is meant to brighten the human experience. The human experience, the brilliance of life is experienced because of change! Not all change is wanted. Not all change is necessary but it happens and the best you can do is adapt and move forward.
